Mia mamma era bambina.
My grandpa used to have a big garden. As spring arrived, he used to leave the city and go to the countryside. My mother was still little.
Dopo mesi il raccolto finiva e la piccola macchina di mio nonno tornava in città carica di ceste piene di piselli.
After months of harvest, my grandpa came back to the city with his small car full of baskets of peas.
Mia mamma aiutava a pulirli. Il suono dei piselli che si staccano dal baccello era la sua parte preferita.
My mother used to help cleaning the peas. The sound of them detaching from the pod was her favourite part.
Mia nonna si occupava di cuocerli. Metteva sul fuoco a bollire pentole piene di acqua.
Preparava tutto il necessario per l'arrivo dell'inverno e del nuovo ciclo di semina.
My grandma took care of the cooking. She used to put pots full of water
on the fire. She used to prepare everything they needed for the winter,
until the next harvest.
